Robert and Kerry Bloch’s 21-year-old son, David is autistic. He stopped talking when he was around 4 years old, and from that point on, he would only speak one word at a time, if he spoke at all. But recently, David, who is very much a loner without any friends, put a full sentence together; actually, it was a question. It was a very short one, but it was a very profound one at that.
David asked: “Would someone like me?”
It was wonderful that he was able to string those words together to form a sentence for the very first time. But, at the same time, it was extremely sad for his parents to hear him ask it.
So recently, David’s mom, Kerry, wrote about it on her Twitter account. And there were plenty of responses to it.
One man wrote back that his son was autistic and nonverbal, and they would both like to be friends with David.
A 23-year-old named Nick wanted to play video games with David.
