Everyone hopes that when a moment that calls for incredible bravery presents itself, they’ll be able to step up to the plate. Five strangers in California did that in a major way.
The five people were driving on a California highway when they saw a car burst into flames. Inside it was an elderly couple struggling to get out. These strangers stopped their cars and risked their lives to run over and save 92-year-old Ken Williamson and his 90-year-old wife, Joan.
“As we got closer and the smoke cleared, we could see there were people in there,” Marie McCory, who recorded video of the good Samaritans in action, told Inside Edition.
“I just couldn’t even believe what we were seeing,” Marie continued.
“They couldn’t get the seatbelts off, so we could see them struggling to get them off, and we were very worried.”
The five strangers who stopped to help are part of a rehabilitation program. They were traveling to the halfway house they live in together when they saw the car fire.
One of the five suffered burns on his hands and arms when he reached into the flames to help. Thankfully, everything is all right otherwise.
