A Los Angeles mother-daughter duo are facing murder charges after allegedly performing illegal cosmetic surgeries that cost one woman her life.
Libby Adame, 51, and Alicia Galaz, 23, found themselves under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department after the two women allegedly performed an unauthorized and illegal procedure on 26-year-old Karissa Rajpaul. Rajpaul was an aspiring social media star who documented her life, including her procedures, on her now-defunct social channels.
The procedure took place in October 2019. Later the same day, Rajpaul died at a local hospital.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Rajpaul’s cause of death as homicide due to acute cardiopulmonary dysfunction and intramuscular/intravascular silicone injections. Investigators believe that when Adame and Galaz injected her with the fillers, they used dangerous chemicals in combination with the fillers.
Adame and Galaz were arrested and charged in August 2021. Adame was released on $1 million bond. Galaz was released the next day as well. The daughter of the duo is due in court in December, while Adame’s court date has yet to be scheduled.
